The EM Sovereign Debt Strategy Division London UK Global Head office Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:
The EM Sovereign Debt Strategist is responsible for the creation, direction, production and promotion of sovereign debt analysis and strategies covering global Emerging Markets with a specific focus on the CEEMEA and Asia region but ability to expand into the Global EM (EMBI($)) world in order to look at relative value opportunities. The position will work closely with local economists in the EM regions and strategists across the product areas of EM Debt, Corporate Credit, FX and Interest rates.
This division provides emerging markets sovereign research insights to Sales, Trading, DCM and clients through regular publication of research notes together with verbal communication of strategies.
Coverage centres on sovereigns which can change. Again the main focus will be CEEMEA and Asia, but also the ability to track global developments for constituents of the JPM EMBI $ benchmark.
Flexibility on coverage with respect to trading, sales and DCM business requirements is a strong requirement

- Provide emerging markets sovereign credit research insights to Sales, Trading, DCM and clients through regular publication of credit strategy research notes together with verbal communication of strategies. Coverage so far centres on CEEMEA sovereigns and selected government-related entities, but is expected to lengthen in due course to some Asian coverage. Flexibility on coverage with respect to trading, sales and DCM business requirements is a strong requirement.
- The role will be expected to identify market opportunities and specific trade ideas, create and maintain models and monitor sovereign risks. Thematics will also be required, hence the need for creativity in research. Indeed, the research offering may change over time and thus the ability to adapt and present new, compelling and accessible content will be important.
- In particular, and while strictly adhering to Mifid II guidelines, provide support to ABCM internal trading desks around the globe.
- You will also have interactions with other key business lines within Wholesale Banking such as client coverage, debt capital markets and structured finance.
- Present sovereign credit ideas to external (mainly buy-side) clients, offering a high degree of personal contact.
- Provide press and media coverage in line with ABCM Research’s social media strategy.
- Maintain a network of relationships and contacts within ABCM’s decentralised operations, not just in the city of London but world-wide, in order to establish a good two-way flow of information and buy-in for marketing of the research product.
- Utilise existing and create new contacts amongst policy makers and industry sources. Use ABCM access to a variety of data sources and models, both internal and external, to adapt and acquire new sources within reasonable cost and time parameters.
- Upon request, provide special pieces for the Global Head of Research or other senior managers within ABCM
- Participate in conference calls for team building purposes and participate in joint publications as organised by product coordinators
